SJ30"Right To An Abortion: A proposed constitutional amendment that seeks to enshrine the "right to abortion" in the Connecticut State Constitution. It was voted out of the Government Administration and Elections Committee and sent to the Senate. The Senate took no action on the legislation and it died at the end of the session.
HB 5261 would make it legal for non-doctors, such as nurses and midwives, to perform abortions in Connecticut. These non-doctors lack the training to provide proper care to the mother if she should suffer from dangerous complications during the abortion was amended to HB 5414 in the House and passed both chambers. See HB 5414 below.
HB 5414 “AN ACT CONCERNING PROTECTIONS FOR PERSONS RECEIVING AND PROVIDING REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE SERVICES IN THE STATE” The title is misleading. It is a “safe harbor” bill for abortion providers who violate abortion laws in other states. Was voted out of the Judiciary Committee and sent to the House. In the House, HB 5414 was combined with HB 5261 and was passed. The new version of HB 5414 was then voted on by the Senate and passed. With
